Julia Perez, Catholic '24, is a Psychology and Sociology student from Trumbull, CT. She shares why she chose to attend Catholic University, and what advice she has for prospective students.

Why did you choose to attend Catholic University and what set the Department of Psychology apart?

"As the last daughter of three, I wanted to be at a university in a city that would nurture and allow me to grow into my adult and career life, I believed that the values and opportunities that Catholic U had to offer was a great fit."

Why did you choose to student Psychology?

"I originally applied to Catholic University with the goal to attain a degree in Nursing because I felt a calling to always be in service to others. I soon realized that I could do that in other fields and decided that I was more interested in helping others through their mental health. I am so happy with my decision to become a Psychology Major because it opened my mind to so many ways of thinking. I love Catholic U because of the Psychology Program and the supportive faculty that has made my experience here so amazing."

What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?

"The community. Everyone here cares about you from the students to faculty and staff. Being a part of so many organizations has allowed me to make new friends and deeply connect with has allowed me to grow as leader, student, and human being."

What advice would you give to prospective students?

"There are so many resources on campus and so many people that want to help you out! Don't be afraid to reach out to those resources and to see who you believe is going to best be there for you academic career and life development. I love talking to my Center of Academic and Career Advisor to seek advice about life, being a student, adulting, and keep track of my academic career / progress."
